MEET THE FOUNDER
Charles Zhang
Growing up, I’ve tried just about every sport imaginable—from soccer to swimming, tennis to [table] tennis. I have always noticed the positive impact sports had on myself and the kids around me. From building teamwork and discipline to introducing me to lifelong friends, sports have been a constant source of motivation and growth for me. It was on the field and in the pool that I found my voice as a leader in a team. And I can surely say, with all my heart, that recess was definitely always the best part of school.
However, my appreciation for sports deepened when I visited other countries and saw firsthand how access to sports can be a challenge for many children. I watched large groups of kids sharing a singular beaten-up ball, a reminder that in underprivileged areas, even the most basic sports equipment is a luxury many can’t afford. This realization inspired me to create Gear 4 Goals- a nonprofit that aims to bridge this gap by providing sports gear to kids who might otherwise miss out on the opportunity to PLAY.
OUR HISTORY AND MISSION
Gear 4 Goals was founded with the belief that every child should have the opportunity to participate in sports, regardless of their financial situation. After witnessing the joy and life skills that sports provided, but also the barriers faced by children in underprivileged areas, we were inspired to take action. Founder Charles Zhang mobilized support within his high school, educating classmates about the societal disparities in access to sports. Our mission is to provide underprivileged children with access to sports by collecting and distributing new sports gear through partnerships with organizations around the world. While we appreciate all support, monetary donations are preferred to ensure we can provide the specific gear needed and efficiently cover shipping costs. Together, we make sure they have the tools to develop their talents, build confidence, and enjoy the benefits of a healthy, balanced life with sports.

Our vision is a world where no child goes without the opportunity to play due to a lack or resources. We strive to create a future where every child, regardless of background or financial status, has the opportunity to play, grow, and thrive through sports. By leveling the playing field, we aim to empower children to discover their potential, develop lifelong skills, and become leaders both on and off the field.
